It is a really uphill Olympic season for Carlo Janka, who despite all the physical problems and continuous back problems, does not give up and had planned, after having skipped the stages of Lake Louise and Beaver Creek, to start his season from this week's speed races in Val Gardena.
From Wednesday to Saturday, however, we will not see the winner of the 2010 cup at the Saslong gate. The reason? A positivity to Covid, made official today by Swiss-Ski who recalled how the Graubünden champion is regularly vaccinated and manifests mild cold symptoms.
Placed in isolation, Janka was therefore not included in the list of 15 called up for the Val Gardena event, where Ralph Weber (among other things, today winner of the super-g of the European Cup in Santa Caterina Valfurva) and Urs Kryenbuehl , the two red-cross sprinters who decided not to get vaccinated and risked not being able to compete, as in Lake Louise, before the FISI adjusted the situation following the request of the Swiss federation led by Urs Lehmann.
Marco Odermatt will participate only in the super-g on Friday (the names of the athletes selected for the individual races will be disclosed only after the tests on Wednesday and Thursday), then here is Beat Feuz, Niels Hintermann, Stefan Rogentin, Gilles Roulin, Lars Roesti, the two winners of the two European Cup runs last weekend, namely Yannick Chabloz and Josua Mettler, finally Alexis Monney, Justin Murisier, Loïc Meillard, Gino Caviezel and Thomas Tumler.
