Reichelt attacks the new rules: "I always with the number 1 in the tests"

Two weeks ago in Val d 'Isere and yesterday in Val Gardena downhill racers have found that new rules on the allocation of the pectoral in the fast trials for the World Cup are also valid in timed tests.

The new rules stipulate that the top 10 of the World Cup Starting List choose the odd chest between the '1 and 19 seconds and 10 will see the pectoral assigned by draw of 2 to 20. The amendment introduced in the month of June by FIS congress in Cancun at the suggestion of the president of the Austrian Federation Peter Schröcksnadel aims to lengthen the time of attention from the public and viewers making interesting the first twenty descents of the races. But there is a huge inconvenience that arises from its implementation: the tenth World Cup Starting List has in front of him an obvious choice that leads him to have the worst starting number be it the '1 or 19 depending on conditions track. While those who follow him in the standings and should therefore have lower benefits can rely on the law of probabilities related to the draw and get much better numbers in the field of peers. The rule is known by six months and even in its perversion is now a fact for everyone but what athletes have discovered two weeks ago in Val d 'Isere is that new rules apply to time trials. At the expense is Hannes Reichelt, current number 10 of the WCSL, who found himself with another problem in addition to the difficult recovery from the operation, in the middle of her back in September. "They are always the chicken that you have to throw down without having yet seen anybody down," said Reichelt, "If it happened now and then there would be problems but I had the number 1 on probation for two races in a row and if it does not change my the position 'I will have in Santa Caterina ". According to the Austrian downhill skier the 80% of the athletes share his criticisms and the fact that no one had informed them that the procedure was true for the test runs. "We have already spoken with the Federation," says Reichelt, "but Schröcksnadel also has the worst ideas how to draw lots the first 30 pecs."
