After today's super-day that crowned Marco Odermatt, it's time for the first of the two descents on the Lauberhorn in Wengen, with the “shortened” version for the fifth round of the main discipline. On Friday, in fact, with start at 12.30 (live on Eurosport 1 and Rai Sport), the second race in the Bernese Oberland will be staged starting just above the Hundschopf, in order to save the athletes, already called to a very tough triple commitment, in view of the real descent of Wengen, the one of two and a half minutes of effort that we will see on Saturday. The initial sliding section will therefore be missing, about 45 seconds, but the favorites will be the usual ones: Beat Feuz above all, with the Swiss still dry in the season and called to look for poker on his favorite track, also to remain clinging to the specialty leader, who goes by the name of Dominik Paris. The blue champion, today a good 7th in super-g, obtained his first podium in Wengen just the last time he competed, with 2nd place in January 2020 behind Feuz himself, who will start earlier tomorrow having immediately chosen the number 3. "Domme" opted for 9, with Clarey who will have 1 and the first blue at the start will be Matteo Marsaglia, drawn from the even numbers with 4. The Piedmontese will anticipate Matthias Mayer (No. 5) and Vincent Kriechmayr (with 7); the world champion, who returned today to super-g (9th) after the positivity at Covid, was allowed to register despite the lack of even a single test (remember, until Wednesday afternoon he was unable to leave Austria ).
