It will be Val d''Isère to finally kick off the season of speed for both men and women.
First with downhill and super-g for men, Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 December, then with two descents and a super-g for girls from 18 to 20 of the month, always on the “Oreiller-Killy”. The problem of the past few weeks, which forced the organization of the legendary Critérium de la Première Neige to give up the two male giants scheduled for 5-6 December (and recovered in Santa Caterina Valfurva), was the lack of snow with high temperatures, now for the opening of the jet men there is the risk of the opposite effect, as happened in 2019 when they missed three of the four races scheduled in Val d''Isère.
As reported by Yan Giezendanner, the weather expert of the "Ski Chrono" portal, a fair amount of precipitation is expected in the two nights preceding the weekend races: "Wednesday is expected a light snow, Thursday and Friday sunny days. time then, in the night between Friday and Saturday, about forty cm of snow at high altitude (around 2500 meters) until morning, as well as about twenty the following night, before turning to clear Sunday ”.
Definitely similar weather for the two female giants of Courchevel, the Haute-Savoie station not far from Val d''Isère, always expected on Saturday and Sunday morning (9.30-12.30 the two heats), but with less difficulty manage the situation being a giant on a track, the Stade Emile-Allais, very different from the complexities that could present an "OK" with lots of fresh snow on the slopes.
Today the meeting of the captains (17.00) for the men's circuit in Val d''Isère, in view of the first test of the descent scheduled for Wednesday at 10.30, the same time (except for postponements due to weather) of the races on Saturday and Sunday .
