Wengen, Lauberhorn races confirmed after snow control and super-g recovery is possible

The FIS has already given the go-ahead to the historic Swiss classic, from 14 to 16 January 2022 with double downhill and slalom. In the first days of the new year it will be decided whether to place the SG canceled yesterday in Bormio in the same location (otherwise it will almost certainly go to Kitz).

A year after the sensational renunciation due to the Covid emergency that exploded in that area due to the variants arriving from England, Wengen will return (unless new sensational scenarios of that type, we do not even want to think about it) in the calendar of the Cup of the Male World for a special triptych. Today the snow control of the International Federation has indicated a green light for the historic stage in the Bernese Oberland, and from 14 to 16 January 2022 on the Lauberhorn there will be two descents, on Friday and Saturday (always start at 12.30), with the slalom to close on Sunday (1st heat at 10.15, the second at 13.30). There is still the possibility that a fourth race will be added, that is the "famous" super-g canceled in Lake Louise and then in Bormio, which the FIS will assign to Wengen (by removing a downhill test, three are planned from Tuesday 11th to Thursday 13th January) or in Kitzbuehel, which has the same type of program on the following weekend. We will decide in the first days of next week, as reported by skinews.ch, but in any case we will return to Wengen for a double challenge on the longest descent of the circuit, which in the last edition held in 2020 awarded Beat Feuz in front of Dominik Paris (first career podium for the blue on Lauberhorn), with Matthias Mayer winning the combined the previous day and Clément Noel winning the slalom, for the encore of the French phenomenon who already triumphed in 2019.
