It is a tormented story, to say the least, that of the two men's slaloms moved to Flachau for this very special weekend, given that first they should have competed in Wengen and then in Kitzbuehel.
Appointment instead, both for the fifth and for the sixth specialty race between Saturday and Sunday, on the Salzburg track dedicated to Hermann Maier which hosted, only last Tuesday, the classic night slalom dedicated to girls. It must be said that it is not a high-level slope for the men's World Cup, but the conditions of the surface are good and, considering what we have seen so far this season, the show will still be of quality.
It starts at 9.30 with the first heat (traced by the Slovenian Salej), the second at 12.30 (Norwegian tracing with Mithassel, both live on Eurosport and Rai Sport), returning to Flachau over 9 years after that last time for the men's sector dating back to 21 December 2011, with success for Ivica Kostelic ahead of André Myhrer and Cristian Deville.
There is a great desire for redemption in Switzerland, after the missed podium also in Adelboden (Meillard went very close), in particular with regard to Daniel Yule, still dry in the season, and Ramon Zenhaeusern, in this' order the first two to leave tomorrow. He fished the bib n ° 3 Linus Strasser, who instead is experiencing the magic moment of his career with victory in Sljeme and 2nd place on Chuenisbargli; will be followed by Sebastian Foss-Solevaag, the specialty leader Marco Schwarz (n ° 5), at the first with the red bib and back from the long-awaited success he lacked in slalom, while Clément Noel and Henrik Kristoffersen, the two great disappointed in the first four races discipline (with the exception of the 2nd heat of Campiglio with final triumph for the Norwegian), they will start at the bottom of the first sub-group.
In the second we will see Meillard with the 8, Feller with the 9 and Pinturault, who came out after a long time from the first, with the number 10, while the draw this afternoon did not smile too much at Alex Vinatzer: number 15 for the Gardena, who got on in the last two races but, we are sure, he will go on the hunt for the best result, given that the possibility of fighting for any step of the podium is there, practically every race.
Michael Matt will also try, recovering in the last two races in Zagreb and Adelboden with double 4th place, but also the “crazy horse” Jakobsen with 18, followed by the other eight blues in the race. Manni Moelgg, already fifth here in the very distant 2004, will start with bib 21 to confirm the good performance of last Sunday (14th), Simon Maurberger grows with each race and will come out of the gate with 25, before Stefano Gross (28), who instead he must immediately cancel two sensational missed qualifications, to which is added the exit in the 2nd heat of Campiglio, and Giuliano Razzoli at the start with the bib number 30.
Top 30 which is also the goal of Liberatore and Sala (39 and 40 as in the last races), Tonetti with 52 to hit it as in Adelboden, where he then wasted everything in the decisive heat, and finally the return to the CdM of Hans Vaccari, never at points in the maximum circuit and called to the company with 60, after having done well in the European Cup.
