From Alpe Cimbra FIS Children Cup to the World Cup, from the slopes of Folgaria to those of the great White Circus. It had happened to Mikaela Shiffrin ten years ago and history is repeating itself as the Croatian Zrinka Ljutic, just sixteen, has already made her debut in the top international circuit (and the 2004 class won her best finish in the European Cup today. , with 7th place in the slalom of Gstaad), after having signed two braces, in 2018 and 2020, at the "mondialino" of Alpe Cimbra, whose 50th edition is scheduled in a few days, from 25 to 30 January .
The event organized by the committee chaired by Fabrizio Gennari, once called the Topolino Trophy, has always represented a sort of obligatory passage for young skiers who aspire to reach the top. This was the case for Alberto Tomba, Ingemar Stenmark, Pirmin Zurbriggen, Marc Girardelli and, more recently, for Lindsey Vonn, Marcel Hirscher, Dominik Paris, Sofia Goggia and the aforementioned Mikaela Shiffrin, just to mention a few.
To lengthen the list, as mentioned, is now Zrinka Ljutic, who has already had the opportunity to show off her talent. The promising Croatian has rightfully entered the history of the Alpe Cimbra Fis Children Cup, where she scored two double goals: the first in 2018, as an under 14, when in Folgaria she won both the special slalom and the giant, then able to repeat herself in 2020, this time among the under 16s, victorious once again both in the race between the articulated poles and in the one between the wide doors. Shiffrin, who in recent seasons has trained, on more than one occasion, in Folgaria together with his teammates from the American national team, scored a double in 2010 at the then Topolino Trophy and in 2011 he made his debut in the World Cup, two days earlier to celebrate their 16th birthday.
Ljutic will turn 17 in March and has already made three appearances in the top circuit, at the start of the Semmering, Zagreb and Flachau slaloms. From 25 to 30 January on the snows of the Alpe Cimbra ski area will be the protagonists of the new young talents of world skiing, and probably a new talent willing to forge ahead as Ljutic did. The program of the Alpe Cimbra FIS Children Cup foresees on Monday 25 and Tuesday 26 January the National Selections to form the Italian teams with the Cassa Rurale Vallagarina trophy at stake.
On Wednesday 27th the spectacular team event is scheduled for the afternoon, on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th the special and giant slalom races for the under 14 and under 16 categories. international level.
