Appreciation of the FIS for the preparation of the World Cup in Cortina 2021

Below we publish the report of the two-day coordination meeting between the FISI, FIS, Infront, Cortina 2021 Foundation and the municipal administration held Tuesday and Wednesday in Cortina d'Ampezzo.

The fourth Coordination Meeting between the heads of the FIS - FÃ©dÃ©ration Internationale de Ski, of the FISI and of Infront with the Cortina Foundation 2021 and the Municipal Administration was concluded on Wednesday in Cortina to illustrate and discuss the progress of the works and the organization of the 2021 Alpine Ski World Championships. The Coordination Meeting also saw the participation of the Hotelier Association with the President Roberta AlverÃ , of the "Impianti a Fune" Association with the President Marco Zardini, of the representatives of the Police Forces, with the Deputy Questor Luigi Petrillo and the Finance Police representatives , and Confindustria Belluno Dolomiti with the Director Andrea Ferrazzi. During the two days of work, all the different areas of activity of the Foundation were evaluated in view of the world appointment and the development of the various interventions compared to the previous appointment last October. In particular: Infrastructure Division The division that deals with the design, study and construction of sports infrastructure, is proceeding both on the front of private interventions, with works on the area of â€‹â€‹Tofana made by Ista and Fondazione, and with the intervention of the Government Commissioner who will start at the end July. In detail: - May 2018, earth moving and construction work began on part of the snowmaking system on the Olympia and Vertigine tracks; - August 2018, start of works in Rumerlo (tunnel, bypass and arrival area) with the aim of concluding the works relating to the area of â€‹â€‹arrival by November 2018 in order to use the new finish area for the 2019 World Cup ; - September 2018, start of the wiring and installation of safety nets on the Vertigine runway and start of the earth moving works and part of the snowmaking system on the A and B tracks of the DrusciÃ¨ (private part); An initiative of particular importance is the establishment, last May, of a working table with the Associazione Impianti a Fune to address common issues, with a view to greater interaction and synergy with the associative and entrepreneurial fabric of the valley. Operations Division The work of comparison with suppliers of the various products and services needed for the event continues. In particular, invitations to tender were launched for the supply of stands and modular structures in scaffolding, tensile structures, containers and modular boxes, and a letter of intent was signed with Carlson Wagonlit Travel for the management of accommodation. On this aspect, the support that the Cortina Hoteliers Association is lending to Fondazione Cortina 2021 is fundamental. Marketing and Communication Division The marketing and communication division is working, in close contact with Infront, which holds media / marketing rights for both the 2019 World Championships and the Cortina 2021 ones, on two main levels: - the formalization of important partnerships that will allow financing of fundamental activities for the image of the event and the creation of experiences for Cortina guests, already in the previous years the World Championships; - the coordination of a communication plan that puts Fondazione Cortina 2021 as a media partner of the main events of Cortina and of the territory; From a strategic point of view, the objective of Fondazione Cortina 2021 is to create the best synergy in marketing and communication with Cortina Marketing and the Destination Management Organization (Dolomiti). Among the long-standing partnerships already signed, the one with Audi, with the Consortium for the Protection of Prosecco DOC and with Urban Vision for the management of advertising space inside the various ski areas of Cortina. There are many events scheduled during the summer that see as a partner or protagonist Fondazione Cortina 2021, including Cortina between the lines, TEDx Cortina and the presentation of the Cortina Card. Sustainability Division Sustainability and legacy have always been among the key words of Cortina 2021. To further emphasize this commitment, Fondazione Cortina 2021 is among the subjects who are implementing the responsible tourism strategy contained in the Cortina Charter, whose other signatories are the Ministry of 'Environment, Municipality of Cortina d'Ampezzo, Veneto Region, ANCI, ANEF, CONI, FISI, UNESCO Dolomites Foundation and SPRECOZERO. The ultimate aim is to strengthen a "green oriented" tourism development model based on efficiency in the use of resources such as water and soil, on the limitation of greenhouse gas emissions and energy costs. The Foundation is also a part, together with the Organizing Committees of other major sporting events in 5 European countries, of a project on the sustainability of sport - within the LIFE Community program - dedicated to the protection of the environment and nature. Sports Division Cortina 2021 will be the first edition of the World Championship to present the new Medal of the Individual Parallel in the program (individual race for both men and women, replacing the combined Alpina). The decision was approved in Greece at the last FIS Congress. In April 2018, the first tracing of the men's downhill on the Vertigine track was completed together with the FIS technicians, thus verifying the correspondence of the new layout with respect to the technical requirements. Valerio Giacobbi, Managing Director of the Fondazione Cortina 2021, said: "We are satisfied with the work of these days, the appreciation received from all the stakeholders can only confirm that we are on the right track. The Coordination Meeting was also an opportunity to involve hoteliers and installers more closely, key partners for building the entire project. " Sarah Lewis, FIS General Secretary, commented: "These were two extremely constructive and important days. The key word that I can use is a community: all the stakeholders were present at all the different working tables and everyone expressed a strong spirit of collaboration and a real sense of involvement of the territory. It's a great team with one goal: to make Cortina 2021 a great event for sport, for Cortina and for Italy. " Gianpietro Ghedina, Mayor of the Municipality of Cortina, concluded: "I was struck by the concepts repeated many times by our interlocutors, 'good direction' and 'very positive'. To hear it from expert international observers is a pleasure and stimulates us to do even better as a community. "
