Bormio is ready to host the men's Alpine Skiing World Cup again, with a downhill and a combined downhill scheduled for December 28-29.
In the locality of Alta Valtellina, the various local authorities and Fisi itself met, with the opening dinner of the appointment with the international federation which saw the Councilor for the mountains of the Lombardy Region, Massimo Sertori, and the Undersecretary for the Presidency with responsibility for Major Events, Antonio Rossi; the two executives presented the new Steering Committee, composed of the Lombardy Region itself, the FISI, the municipalities of the Alta Valle and the Comunità Montana which will, for the next few years, take care of the regular performance of the World Cup competitions of ski in Bormio.
All in perspective in the 2026 Olympics and with special attention also to the post-Olympic period: "It is really important to have all the authorities gathered here - commented the President of the FISI, Flavio Roda - because this step means a new phase for the competitions in Bormio, which will benefit from great repercussions in terms of image for the territory. I thank the Lombardy Region that has accepted to lead this new phase, as I thank the President of the Mountain Community and all the Mayors for having joined the project ".
"It is a decisive step in the Olympic perspective - Councilor Sertori continued - because the territory deserves to grow and must be able to activate synergies that mean superior strength and a guarantee of high standards both in the sports field and in the extra one -sportivo. It is important to remember, as there is also the support of the municipality of Santa Caterina Valfurva, in this period, as is known, isolated due to a landslide ".
At the end of the inspection, the FIS director of the men's World Cup, Markus Waldner, also reiterated the extreme importance and beauty of the Bormio races. "You have a diamond called the Stelvio track - the referee said - and it's up to us, together, to file it in the best way to make it shine more and more, around 2026".
