Sunday on Rai 2 the documentary that launches the World Cup: appointment with "Road to Cortina 2021"

Before the opening ceremony, which will be staged from 6.00 pm, a product will be offered at noon that traces Cortina's journey towards the alpine ski world championships.

It is called "Road to Cortina 2021": it is the documentary that Rai 2 will broadcast at 12.00 on Sunday 7 February, the opening day of the Alpine Ski World Championships in Cortina. A journey through landscapes and words, today's images and repertoire, interviews and reflections to understand the profound meaning of the important international event, organized in Italy in times of pandemic. Fifty-four minutes of emotions and stories, an example of an Italy that wins when it is a system. Strongly desired by Minister Vincenzo Spadafora, with the support of the Department for Sport, Road to Cortina 2021 is made by Panamafilm, with the Cortina 2021 Foundation, Rai Documentari and the collaboration of Rai Sport. The documentary recounts the phases of a long, difficult journey that began with the assignment of the World Championships to the queen of the Dolomites to get to the start on 7 February. Between these two moments, there are years of work and choices: the design and construction of the works; the development of cutting-edge technical solutions; respect for the mountains; the involvement of the community as well as the institutions and sponsors. In short: a gigantic machine, to be managed in times of Covid. Written and produced by Riccardo Brun, Paolo Rossetti, Francesco Siciliano for Panamafilm, directed by Cosimo Alemà, Road to Cortina 2021 is also a journey through time. Siciliano says: “There is the black and white Cortina of the 1956 Olympics, of international tourism of past decades, of politics and well-known faces, of mountain enthusiasts. And of course the stories and interviews of the champions of yesterday and today, from Kristian Ghedina to Marta Bassino, from Federica Brignone and Dominik Paris ”. Among the interviewees Valerio Toniolo, Government Commissioner of the Cortina 2021 project, Alessandro Benetton, President of the Cortina 2021 Foundation, Gianpietro Ghedina, Mayor of Cortina, Giovanni Malagò, President of Coni. Valerio Toniolo comments: "The documentary, strongly desired by the government, highlights the work carried out, the team spirit that animated the entire journey and above all the spirit and values of the mountains, which in such a complex and delicate moment had the desire and strength to get up ".
