For example, the budgets had to be cleaned up, but we have also overcome this challenge. What he did well was certainly the management of the two big events - 50 years of the World Cup in Val Gardena in 2017 and in December last year the 50th anniversary of the Ski World Cup in 1970 - It was very nice have the many legends of skiing with us and rethink the glorious old days ”. Val Gardena now has a double fixed appointment, in addition to the surprise of the women's races in December 2018: “Those two races were assigned to us practically from one day to the next; when Val d''Isère had to cancel, the FIS turned to us and in a short time we had to accept or cancel. It was a great challenge, also from a financial point of view, but until the end we were able to offer great races. And that Nicol Delago got on the podium on his home track, of course it was the famous icing on the cake ”. Between past, present and future, the Gardena executive speaks of a board of directors "in which all the decisions were approved unanimously. We were able to implement many new ideas and our primary goal four years ago was to rekindle the enthusiasm for the Ski World Cup in Val Gardena - in our valley and throughout South Tyrol - An enthusiasm for the World Cup which has returned to being very large in the individual municipalities of Val Gardena, among tour operators, among our partners and not least among the local population. Our goal is to ensure that races can take place independently of the individual. " The cancellation of the descent, a few months ago, is still an open wound for Senoner: “The cancellation was very painful. It was so painful because all December, until the beginning of the race week, we had perfect conditions throughout Val Gardena and we were very well prepared. Unfortunately we are powerless in the face of a heat wave like the one experienced in mid-December. At the same time I would like to emphasize that it has already been almost a miracle if we managed to finish a downhill workout and the Super-G in these conditions. So I would like to thank once again the FIS race director Markus Waldner and of course my whole team for the 'excellent work done ". With a wish for the future: “I would like a Val Gardena athlete to compete with the best in the world. With Nicol Delago we saw the positive effects for our event if a local champion gets on the podium. Together with the board of directors, I would like to continue the journey undertaken and continue to work to improve our structure, at the same time I will make sure that the Val Gardena races remain on the FIS calendar.
