Lech / Zuers will return to host the World Cup almost 26 years after those two men's slalom dominated by Alberto Tomba (with the famous "number" in the second round), and Austria presents itself to another stage , after the very difficult debut in Soelden, with a little more confidence after the good results obtained from the slalom races in Levi.
The parallels scheduled for Thursday and Friday at the Flexenarena will see 17 standard bearers of the red and white squadron, but with a heavy absence: as announced in the past few hours, Marco Schwarz tested positive at Covid, but it will not affect the presence of the complete male team that the Carinthian was at home in recent days and, according to what was communicated by the OESV, he had no contact with teammates and staff after showing the first, mild symptoms. Today Michael Matt and his companions did the finishing at Reiteralm: in addition to his brother of art, seven other athletes will be competing, with Matthias Mayer and Vincent Kriechmayr back at the starting gate after Soelden, Roland Leitinger who will try to replicate the first podium of the career obtained in last year's PGS in Alta Badia and, among the slalom team specialists, Christian Hirschbuehl, Fabio Gstrein, Adrian Pertl and Dominik Raschner.
There will be nine women at the start: veterans from Levi the hostess in her Vorarlberg, Katharina Liensberger who won two podiums in the slalom in Finland (but has never done very well in parallel), as well as Chiara Mair, Katharina Truppe, Katharina Huber , Franziska Gritsch and Katharina Gallhuber. Then there is Ramona Siebenhofer, waiting for her speed races, Ricarda Haaser and attention to Elisa Moerzinger, the young woman who last season won her first and only podium in CdM right in the PGS in Sestriere, beaten only in the final by Clara Direz.
