It will be a double appointment with the only parallels of the World Cup season, the one scheduled for Thursday with the women and Friday with the men competing on the Flexenarena in Lech / Zuers, with several absences for different reasons.
The certainties concern Italy, without Alex Vinatzer and Simon Maurberger, Sweden with the isolation to which the women's slalom team was forced, and Switzerland which will have to do without three important men like Odermatt, Murisier and Meillard, positive at Covid, while several selections are still awaited.
France has formalized their choices, bringing ten athletes for the Austrian stage: Tessa Worley will try to get a good result in the women's test, flanked by Joséphine Forni, fresh from the Levi slalom, by Coralie Frasse-Sombet and Doriane Escané, while the absence of Clara Direz was already taken for granted, the very one who won the last parallel in Sestriere, last January 19th, still recovering after being struck at the end of September by pulmonary embolism.
Six transalpines selected for Friday's race: Alexis Pinturault will return to the race after 4th place in Soelden and, in a race not too popular with one of the big favorites for the general cup, he will have to look for heavy points before thinking about the two giants in Val d''Isère. With the 29-year-old from Courchevel there will be Cyprien Sarrazin, who instead can exalt himself as he did in Alta Badia, Mathieu Faivre, Thibaut Favrot, Rémy Falgoux and another young man like Jeremie Lagier.
Instead, Victor Muffat-Jeandet decided to give up, in order to better prepare for the home races of the first weekend of December.
