Alpine Skiingworld cup 2020/21
The French stages of the World Cup, scheduled for the second weekend of December, are always at great risk. And for the two female giants there is no plan B, but postponement seems the most likely solution.

If on December 5-6 there shouldn't be any particular problems, with the FIS ok arrived and the preparation of the track already complete in both cases, and we are talking about the super-g of Sankt Moritz for the female sector and the male giants of Santa Caterina Valfurva (recovery of those skipped in Val d''Isère), there are many doubts about the races of the second weekend of December in the World Cup, for both circuits.
Let's summarize the situation: the women, after the first challenges with speed in the Swiss resort, should go to Courchevel for the double giant on the Stade Emile-Allais. The problem is that there is no snow on the Savoyard site and the forecasts remain negative for the next few days, with thermal inversion and enormous difficulty in producing artificial snow. The FIS check has been set for Wednesday 2 December, but since there is no real plan B for the replacement of the races, it is possible that a couple of more days will be granted to the organization to save the stage and, another possibility that is being evaluated is to move the tests from 12-13 December to 14-15, "hooking them up" to the next stage in Val d''Isère (with the extreme hypothesis of granting Courchevel a slot in January) . Much, however, will also depend on the fate of that weekend, namely the double descent and the super-g scheduled from the 18th to the 20th of the month (with the clear need to run at least 1-2 timed trials) on the "Oreiller-Killy" , where snow is scarce.
And here we connect to the men's sector, given that in Val d''Isère there would be, again on 12-13 December, the first of the two remaining appointments with the Critérium de la Première Neige, or downhill and men's super-g always on the legendary OK The situation in terms of snow is almost dramatic, but the organization will literally do everything to save the appointment, since it already had considerable economic damage due to the cancellation of three of the four races scheduled for December 2019 (the two races female and the male giant), mockingly for ... too much snow.
For the debut of the jet men, the dead line for the decisive snow check is set for Monday 30 November and hopes are less and less. In this case, the hypothesis that remains in pole position for the substitution is that of Val Gardena, with the organizing committee led by Rainer Senoner which is already well advanced with the preparation of the "Saslong" for super-g and scheduled descent December 18-19. And it would also be a sort of "compensation" after losing the legendary Val Gardena descent last year.
