A historic first in Val di Fiemme, that of the "Mixed Team Event", or rather the mixed team event, an unprecedented one for the World Cup. Fair test for Italy, dragged into the jump by an excellent Annika Sieff who bodes well for tomorrow's individual race. The Azzurri finished in fifth place, while the victory went to Norway, which got the better of Austria and Germany.

The goal of the FIS is to include this race in the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic program, when the women's Nordic combined should make its debut in the five-circle review. The structure of the format is being defined and this world cup premiere was a sort of "experiment", which may be subject to some changes in the future.
In the jumping segment, the gaps were calculated on the average of the four scores recorded by each nation and not on the sum, as usually happens in men's team events. The cross-country trial, on the other hand, was made up of two 5 km male fractions (first and fourth) and two 2.5 km female fractions (second and third).
As expected, the success went to Norway, dragged by the queen of the Nordic combined Gyda Westvold Hansen. The 2002 class of Trondheim won their jumping rotation and made the difference on skis, recovering 35 ”from the Austrian Slamik and breaking her in the final, after Jens Luraas Oftebro and Mari Leinan Lund had paid duty against their direct rivals. In the final stage Joergen Graabak had no problem keeping the Austrian Greiderer and the German Weber at a distance. Austria therefore second and Germany third, with Japan disappointed in 4th place.
Italy met expectations, albeit with some difficulties in the cross-country fractions, and finished 5th ahead of the United States sixth and Slovenia 7th, with Russia 8th. In the jump, the Italian MVP was Annika Sieff, who achieved the second score, losing only to Westvold Hansen. Tomorrow the talented athlete from Cavalese could go hunting for the podium in the individual test but to do so she will have to turn up the engine speed on skis, where she was not very brilliant today. Buzzi, Pittin and Gianmoena also did theirs, and will be reassessed in the coming days.
Tomorrow the program of the World Cup weekend in Val di Fiemme includes a double appointment: Gundersen for men, with jumping segment at 09:30 and bottom at 12:30 and women's Mass Start with bottom at 13:30 and jump at 18: 00. On Sunday, however, the second men's individual competition is scheduled.
