With an overbearing action in the final, the German prevailed in the hard-fought Gundersen of the Val di Fiemme, where up to the last kilometers as many as fifteen athletes were still in the running for the podium. First win of the season for Geiger who preceded Johannes Lamparter and compatriot Rydzek, with Estonian Ilves an excellent fourth. Best career result for Buzzi, 23rd.

The jump segment, played in the morning, was won by the Estonian Kristjan Ilves, who with a jump near the HS point of 105m preceded by 3 "Terence Weber and 15" the trio Lamparter, Yoshito Watabe and Rehrl, with the other Germans and the Norwegian Andersen just behind to chase.
On the Lago di Tesero track, Lamparter made a full start, recovering the two who preceded him and trying to replicate the escape from Race-1, which had led him to victory. Behind him, however, the Germans kept the pace high and under the pressure of Geiger they closed the gap at the end of the second lap. Thus a group of about ten athletes was formed, joined in the last round also by the Graabak and Akito Watabe train.
Fifteen athletes came to compete for the podium positions. The first attack was that of Geiger, who made a void uphill, putting Lamparter, Ilves, Rydzek and Graabak in line. The German kept a frenzied pace in the last 2km and thus imposed himself alone, taking his first success of the season (fifth podium), the eighth in his career. Place of honor after yesterday’s success for Johannes Lamparter, generous in the first part of the cross-country stage and then good at responding to Geiger’s attack.
The Austrian won the sprint for second place against the German Rydzek, with Estonian Ilves also excellent in the background and at the end of the fourth ahead of Andersen 5th, Akito Watabe 6th and Frenzel 7th. Joergen Graabak paid 8th in the final, while Jens Luraas Oftebro and Manuel Faisst also finished in the top 10.
Excellent performance at home in Italy for Raffaele Buzzi, 32nd after the jump and with a great comeback at the bottom, for a 23rd place that represents the best career result in the World Cup. 35th instead Alessandro Pittin.
