Eric Frenzel wins and convinces in Lahti, in front of a superlative Eero Hirvonen

Today it staged the first competition of the Lahti weekend, appetizer of the World Championships that will be held next month in the Finnish town. The winner for the 4th time this season and 35th in his career was Eric Frenzel.

The Teutonic with constant lead went to resume Jarl Magnus Riiber during the third round, and then fly away towards the success. With the win leapfrogged in the standings teammate Johannes Rydzek, earning the yellow bib. In second place came Eero Hirvonen, arousing really good impression. Finnish as a whole has even caught up on the narrow skis to Frenzel, but could not keep up the holder of the World Cup at the decisive moment. He still got a convincing first career podium. Third place for Johannes Rydzek, very detached party but able to limit the damage thanks to the best performance of the day in the bottom. At the foot of the podium stood Wilhelm Denifl, followed out of the blue Samuel Costa 5th to the best result of his career. The two led a pair in the final race and the Austrian had the better of the Val Gardena. Only 6th Jarl Magnus Riiber, to which it was not enough the enormous advantage gained in the jump, given the difficulties in the fund. Good comeback for Fabian Rießle finally adjusting 7th in the sprint Philipp Orter, Ilkka Herola and Björn Kircheisen, who close out the top 10. From point out the excellent performance of the Finnish team, who placed four athletes among the top 17, with Leevi Mutru 13th and the returning Hannu Manninen 17th addition to the aforementioned. Only the Teutonic team managed to do better than the hosts. He has not taken off as expected Akito Watabe, saving precious energy for tomorrow. The general classification, as anticipated, now is headed by Eric Frenzel with 554 points, followed by Johannes Rydzek to 530. More and more detached Fabian Rießle (378) and Bjoern Kircheisen (286), while the first non-German becomes Jørgen Graabak (248) surpassing Akito Watabe (247).
