The jump segment, disputed in the late Korean afternoon, saw Akito Watabe and Jarl Magnus Riiber stand out, respectively first and second and separated by just 3 tenths. Their performances, albeit good, have not allowed to dig an important groove towards the competition. The Austrian Denifl closed in third place at 16 ", behind him finished Frenzel 4th to 24", Rydzek 5th to 31 "and Riessle 6th to 34".
In the 10 km on the narrow skis the two treads held a regular rhythm and at the 6 km passage they were joined by the pursuing quartet, composed by the Austrian and the three Germans. Once the reunification took place, the waters calmed down and we moved on to a phase of study which also allowed the Finn Hirvonen to return to the fight for the medals. The fireworks started at 1.5 km from the finish line and the first to light the fuse was Eric Frenzel. The attack skimmed the leading group and four came together on the final straight to play for the podium positions.
In the sprint the best was clearly Johannes Rydzek who regulated the compatriots Riessle and Frenzel, respectively 2nd and 3rd for 4 and 8 tenths. Another mockery for the young Norwegian Riiber, fourth in the competition on Normal Hill, and empty for only 2 "on this occasion too.The Scandinavian has surprisingly managed to keep the tails of rivals on the 'last rough, but ended up exhausted by the sprint decisive.
Fifth final square for Akito Watabe, who was delayed at the decisive moment of the race, the Japanese closed 12 "from the winner, ahead of the Finnish Hirvonen 6th, the German Geiger 7th and the Austrians Denifl and Klapfer, 8th and 9th. Disappointed by the other Norwegians on the eve, favorites for a place on the podium Graabak was in 10th place, 11th instead of Jan Schmid, even 22nd Espen Andersen.
All four Italians in the race were not competitive in the jump and, despite discrete comebacks in the back, they ended up in the rear. The internal challenge was won by Pittin who finished 27th, out of thirty thirty Buzzi 34th, Runggaldier 36th and Kostner 44th.
The combinatists will return to action on Thursday, when the teams' trial medals will be awarded, at 8:30 am Italian time the jump segment is scheduled, at 11.20 the background test.
