Recently ended the first competition of the weekend of the Nordic Combined in Val di Fiemme. Snowfalls of the morning have made the extremely challenging course, but the prediction came out of the jumping competition segment was observed in all respects: the winner was Eric Frenzel, author of a test to say the least superb.

Magnus Krog closed the Norwegian trio with a fifth place which is fairly narrow: the deficit reduced from Frenzel, at the end of the first segment of the race, was not the least reduced, indeed, the Hoeydalsmo athlete has been taken by the pursuers and the final race was enough fierce not to climb on the podium. Is still the best performance of the season, on the narrow skis, however, it is still far from the levels of the past.
Third consecutive result in the best 7 for Gardena Samuel Costa: the great leap has been the prelude to an equally positive race, topped with excellent impressions aroused in the final round, when Samuel had to bend, only in the last meters, the most quality others in the fund. Also beaten in the final by Ilkka Herola, he has won an outstanding seventh place in front of the home crowd.
Special mention should be made to Akito Watabe, who pulled the chase group throughout the duration of the competition, destined to succumb in the collective sprint: Finally it is placed 8th, managing to beat a Joergen Graabak still not in the best condition.
Who started with bib number 1, Mario Seidl 11th, he struggled on the narrow skis, so that when it was taken from the thick chase group came off within a few meters. Partial justification can be given by knee problems that still suffers, so the only way to get a good performance is at his best on the trampoline.
Between the 13th and the 14th place we find two athletes who have struggled in the jump and were partially able to rebuild in the contract segment in their most congenial: Mikko Kokslien he managed to just a few cents Fabian Riessle.
Best results of the season for the Swiss Tim Hug and the Teutonic Jakob Lange, who finished respectively in 12th and 17th place. Another level of performance for the Finnish Leevi Mutru (19 °), the third consecutive top 20, confirming the excellent season for the Finnish team.
The other blue busy on the slopes of Tesero, Raffaele Buzzi, retired in the third lap. They are still a couple of positive return, considering the physical problems we had in the last months.
The overall standings saw Frenzel earn another 20 points on Rydzek, so now we are at 734 to 670 for the Saxon and Bavarian. Following two more Teutonic with Riessle 496 and Bjoern Kircheisen to 357 (today in 10th place).
Tomorrow there will be the useless team sprint, probably rich in many defections from the leaders of the various movements. It will start at 10.00 am with the jump from the large hill in Predazzo, to continue at 13:30 with the competition on the narrow skis.
