The "Mundialito" ready to celebrate 40 years of history: on 21-22 January 2023 here is the Skiri Trophy XCountry

On the Olympic slopes of Lago di Tesero, Baby, Cuccioli, Ragazzi, Allievi competitions and the "Revival" category in the GS Castello youth cross-country skiing event.

The Skiri Trophy XCountry, the "Mundialito" of youth cross-country skiing, will return on 21-22 January 2023 on the Olympic slopes of the Cross-country Center of Lago di Tesero, the unique and inimitable color festival now in its 39th edition and organized by G.S. Castle. The fun two days on the snow dedicated to the categories Baby, Puppies, Boys and Students was born from the idea of giving cross-country skiing a wide-ranging youth promotional event, in a sincere atmosphere of sporting friendship and conviviality. Over the course of its glorious 40 years of history, the Skiri Trophy XCountry, originally born under the name of Trofeo Topolino, has moved several times to the splendid Trentino localities: on 22 January 1984 it started in the Brozzin area, in the welcoming Val di Fiemme, and for the following years the caravan of young cross-country skiers moved between Passo Lavazè, Brozzin and Lago di Tesero. After the first event hosted inside the Lago di Tesero Cross-Country Center in 1990, the Skiri Trophy then had a stable position on the Olympic tracks of Lago di Tesero from the tenth edition to the present, organizing 28 consecutive editions. Truly world and Olympic routes for young and old, ready to experience a new adventure on narrow skis. Great deeds are born from small things ... and many cross-country skiing phenomena have trodden the Fiemme stage: one above all Cristian "Zorro" Zorzi, last fractionist of Turin 2006 who gave the Olympic gold to the Italy of the fund, and others such as Marianna Longa, Antonella Confortola, Sabina Valbusa, Lara Peyrot, Petra Majdič, Ivan and Bruno Debertolis, up to today's athletes Francesco De Fabiani, Tommaso Dellagiacoma, Stefano Gardener, Mauro Brigadoi and Caterina Ganz. The coordinator of the event Nicoletta Nones has anticipated that there will be some interesting news for the next edition. The usual competition format has therefore been confirmed, with the challenges all in classic technique and the traditional “Revival”, dedicated to experienced athletes who in the past have already participated in the trophy. The little cross-country skiers will bring a breath of fresh air to Trentino from all over Europe, just think that in the last edition many athletes from Croatia, Slovenia, Spain, Andorra and from the various Italian regions paraded. The future looks bright for GS Castello, which every year tries to bring new and brilliant ideas to add to the program, with accompanying initiatives and attractive proposals. Constancy, value, resilience are the key elements of the hundreds of volunteers, various associations, public and private bodies who with great synergy and commitment have carried out an important event, now inevitable during the penultimate week of January in Val di Fiemme. The expert committee from Fiemme is always on track for young cross-country skiers from all over the world who soon dream of competing in high-level international competitions.
