In Oberstdorf Ryoyu Kobayashi beat Markus Eisenbichler

The first stage of the 67th edition of the Vierschanzentournee was very balanced but in the end the victory went to the dominator of this start of the season: Ryoyu Kobayashi.

The Japanese in the opening series pushed to 138.5 m, a meter and a half beyond the HS point, digging a groove of 2.7 points against the first of the pursuers, Markus Eisenbichler. In the second jump the German landed at 129 m but this measure was not enough to complete the comeback. Kobayashi in fact with complicated windy conditions has stopped at 126.5 m, but still retaining a margin of 4 tenths on the rival. Stefan Kraft, 8th in the middle of the race, scored the best score in the final series and finished third, just 1.8 points from the winner of the day. Andreas Stjernen, who was off the podium for 1.3 lengths, finished off the Austrian team. Bitter day instead for Poland, since both Piotr Zyla 6th and Kamil Stoch 8th, have paid a rather substantial gap from the first, losing ground in the Tournée standings. The two have in fact closed respectively 14 and 14.7 points from Kobayashi. Both were preceded by Dawid Kubacki 5th. Also in the top 10 were Norwegian Norbert Robert Johansson 7th, Slovenian Timi Zajc 9th and Austrian Daniel Huber 10th. The Germans Karl Geiger and Stephan Leyhe, 12th and 13th, have lost a lot of ground in Tournée optics. While he played a good performance Simon Ammann 14th. Some weight names were eliminated mid-race: Anders Fannemel 33th, Severin Freund 36th, Andreas Wellinger 39th, Manuel Fettner 48th and Junshiro Kobayashi 50th.
