For the third consecutive year in Wisła the prologue of the men's ski jumping World Cup has been staged. An appetizer that satisfied the Norwegian Tande, returned to victory after a long series of physical problems, and the Austrian team, which established itself in the team test.

The Austrians, recently passed under the guidance of Andreas Felder, were able to pick up immediately the fruits of the work done in the summer season, imposing themselves in the Event Team that inaugurated the 2019/2020 World Cup. The day's MVP is certainly Daniel Huber, author of two remarkable jumps and the best measure (136 m). In general, however, the whole quartet proved to be very solid and showed a good shape. Huber, Kraft, Aschenwald and the emerging Hoerl have thus conquered a balanced race without real masters able to shift the balance. For Austria, this is the 30th victory in a World Cup team event, the first in Poland. Place of honor for Norway which, with a line-up of half veterans and half of promising youngsters, managed to precede the hosts of Poland by a handful of points.
The Norwegians were able to repeat the excellent performances on Saturday in the individual race. At the end of the first series in fact Tande and Pedersen occupied the second and third place, behind the leader Geiger, with Johannson 6th but in the odor of a podium. In the second series the only one able to confirm himself was Daniel Andre Tande, who with a jump of 129 m landed with an excellent telemark, returned after more than a season on the highest step of the podium in the maximum circuit.
The 25-year-old from Narvik was able to contain the comeback of Anze Lanisek, 9th in the middle of the race and second in the end, to the first podium in the World Cup. Third place instead for Kamil Stoch, able to precede by only two tenths, what could be the main favorite in the race for the crystal ball: Ryoyu Kobayashi.
The Japanese, not yet at 100% of the form, found himself twice in the starting pole at the wrong time and could not count on the favorable wind found by others. Good test of the Japanese team overall. The veteran Daiki Ito, solid in both series, finished 5th, tenth instead Junshiro Kobayashi.
Also the Slovenian Timi Zajc 6th entered the top 10, expected this year to be definitively consecrated; the world champion of Seefeld 2019 on Normal Hill Dawid Kubacki 7th, ex aequo with the German Geiger, unlucky in the second series with the weather conditions and the Norwegian Pedersen 9th. After the party on Saturday a cold shower arrived in Austria, where the best was Jan Hoerl, 4th after the first jump and 12th at the end. Philipp Aschenwald (18th), Daniel Huber (19th) and Stefan Kraft (21st) closed in the 20th round.
With still many doubts and few certainties on what the real hierarchies that will characterize the season will be, the World Cup moves to Finland, to Kuusamo, where next weekend two individual competitions will be played.
