Men's Jump - Summer Grand Prix 2017

La classica agostana di Courchevel sarà la 3^Tappa del Summer Grand Prix maschile

Saturday, the Summer Grand Prix will face his third leg. After Hinterzarten, the biggest summer circuit is about to live another great classical one, namely Courchevel.

In fact, in 2017, the Savoy resort celebrates its twenty-year entry in the calendar, which took place in 1997. Since then, the Rhône-Alpes region has never missed the appointment. The appointment is held close to Ferragosto, as it always happened except for 2008 and 2016, when it was anticipated to avoid the cumbersome media coincidence with the Beijing Olympics and Rio de Janeiro. It will compete on Tremplin au Praz (K120 / HS132), a structure built in 1990 in view of the XVI Winter Olympic Games and still today in its original shape, since since 2011 it has been subject to some upgrades, but never undergoing any real renovation . If the winter use of the plant was minimal (after the Albertville 1992 competitions it only followed a World Cup test the following year), the one at the Summer Grand Prix level was much more intense. So far Courchevel have played 20 races of the highest plastic circuit. The only trampolines to be hosted are Hinterzarten (25) and Hakuba (33). The most successful jumper is the Austrian Andreas Widhölzl, the only man able to take the lead three times (1999, 2001 and 2002). There are nine companies in the business to boast a success at Courchevel. This is Janne Ahonen (2000), Gregor Schlierenzauer (2006), Simon Ammann (2009), Daiki Ito (2010), Reruhi Shimizu (2012), Andreas Wellinger (2013), Andreas Stjernen (2014), Severin Freund (2015) And Maciej Kot (2016). They have come up on the podium, never before, Robert Kranjec, Noriaki Kasai, Roman Koudelka, Richard Freitag, Kamil Stoch (3 times), Andrea Wank (twice), Tom Hilde, Phillip Sjøen, Kento Sakuyama, Peter Prevc and Stefan Kraft . The official summer record belongs to Kamil Stoch, which on August 12, 2011 reached 137 meters (5 over the 'Hs'). However a couple of weeks before, in a Continental Cup race, Andreas Wank had pushed 50 centimeters further, touching the 137.5 meters.
