Today's race has offered great show, since the first series several athletes have gone beyond the 240 m, but nobody has managed to cross the 250. Kamil Stoch has recorded the best measure in both series, reaching 248.5 and 244.5 m , without however supporting the telemark. In addition to the Polish, the Norwegians Johansson, Forfang and Tande went two times beyond the HS point. The latter, blatantly eliminated in the qualification of Thursday, has set the highest score of the day and is running for a place on the podium in the individual race tomorrow. Great performances also came from Richard Freitag, who in the first series established his personal record, landing at 243 m, from Stefan Kraft (240.5) and Kranjec (239.5).
Norway, which in addition to the three already mentioned athletes deployed Andreas Stjernen, leaving Anders Fannemel a little 'surprise at rest, dominated far and wide the race. In the end the advantage on the second classified was 138 points, but at the end of the first series the fight for the victory was already closed.
The race to the remaining podium positions that involved Slovenia, Poland and Germany was much more uncertain. Just the Germans, on the fourth card strength in the field, have won the place of honor, thanks above all to a super Freitag and good performance, certainly beyond expectations, by Andreas Wellinger. Third place instead for Slovenia, dragged by Domen Prevc and Kranjec, who preceded Poland 4th of only 5 points.
Good race for the Japanese who finished in 5th place 20 meters from the podium, leaving behind Austria, the orphan of Hayböck, Russia and Switzerland. At the end of the first series, the United States and Italy have been eliminated at the end of the first series. Among the Italians the best was Alex Insam (204 m), while Dellasega announced his retirement from competitions.
Tomorrow the last round of the 2017-18 World Cup is scheduled, in which the best thirty of the general will take part. The first series will start at 10:00.
