Men's Jump - Summer Grand Prix 2017

Part of Wisla's Summer Jump Grand Prix 2017

In the day of Thursday, July 13, with the qualification at the Wisla race, will officially take the turn of the XXIV edition of the Summer Grand Prix ski jumping.

The event was born in the summer of 1994 as a Tournee clone of the 4 trampolines, but has been rapidly changing since 1996, when it took the current circuit configuration equivalent to the World Cup. Equation with winter competitions has long been a total, since - for the purposes of the World Ranking List - the points won in the GP have the same weight as those won in the World Cup. However, in this 2017, the results of the Summer Grand Prix will also be valuable to establish the PyeongChang 2018 contingents. As a result, summer races will be important especially for second and third band nations, which will be able to gather weight results to secure their odds for snow trials. Wisla will be baptizing the SGP for the fifth time in the last seven years. Curiously, the Polish location will also be the world's opening of the World Cup in just over four months. You will have to be careful about the qualification because FIS has decided to experiment with a new format. In fact, prequalified people have been abolished. This means that all athletes involved, including the top 10 of the overall standings, will have to qualify for the purpose of earning the pass for the race itself. Translated, if a big man had to pluck his jumper, then he would not take part in the competition. Likewise, it will no longer be possible to disable qualification. Today, on the trampoline Skocznia Narciarska im. Adama Małysza (K120 / HS134) went on stage with 8 individual summer races of the first level, in which they imposed seven different men. Among them, Maciej Kot is the only one to have scored twice (2012, 2016). Among the active athletes, Kamil Stoch (2010), Andreas Wellinger (2013), Peter Prevc (2014) and Dawid Kubacki (2015) also boast a win. Instead, they climbed on the podium, never before, Daiki Ito, Simon Ammann, Piotr Zyla, Anders Fannemel, Tom Hilde, Gregor Schlierenzauer, Roman Koudelka and Kenneth Gangnes. The weekend also features a team event for the sixth consecutive year. So far, three of the five summer camps in Wisla have been conquered by Poland, one from Slovenia and one from Norway.
