The first race, staged on Saturday, was characterized by the strong wind behind it, and rewarded an athlete who is pushing his strong point. For the first time in his career, in fact, the German Karl Geiger managed to get on the highest step of the podium. The 25-year-old from Bavaria, fifth in the middle of the race, in the second series pushed to 141 m. This measure, the best of the day, allowed him to reassemble until the victory.
Behind him rose for the fourth time in season on the podium an excellent Piotr Zyla, 4.7 points away from the winner and capable of beating the Austrian Daniel Huber, good at exploiting favorable wind conditions.
On the contrary, the Norwegian Johann Andre Forfang finished two tenths from the podium, which preceded the Russian Klimov, Sthepan Leyhe and Ryoyu Kobayashi. Alex Insam, the only blue present at Engelberg, missed the points for three tenths, finishing 33th.
In Race 2, on the other hand, Ryoyu Kobayashi climbed up with shots and left no way to his opponents. The Japanese with a perfect first jump landed at 144 m, equaling the plant's record. In the second series he landed seven meters before, but thanks to an excellent telemark, he has detached the first of the pursuers of almost ten lengths.
For Kobayashi it is the fourth victory in the season. The fifth podium for the Polish Piot Zyla, once again second, arrived. The two currently occupy the first and second positions in the overall World Cup standings. The Japanese is in command with 556 points, with 111 lengths of margin on the rival.
Poland also reached the podium with Kamil Stoch, who beat the German Karl Geiger, 4th. A Polish third, Dawid Kubacki, also entered the top 5.
On December 29th, the qualification of Oberstdorf (Ger) will officially open the 67th edition of the Tournette dei Trampolini.
