Ryoyu Kobayashi triumphs in Klinghental and wins the yellow bib, beaten Kraft

During the weekend at Klingenthal the fourth stage of the men's jumping World Cup took place. After qualifying on Friday, the second seasonal Team Event took place on Saturday and an individual race on Sunday.

The second team event of the season brought to success a top nation that until now had been dry with victories: Poland. Piotr Zyla, Jakub Wolny, Kamil Stoch and Dawid Kubacki have inflicted 25 points of lead to Austria, climbing a step on the podium compared to the first seasonal outing, to Wisla. Third place for Japan that preceded Norway 4a, Slovenia 5a and a disappointed Germany, only 6a. Here the complete result. The individual race was much more uncertain and fought, finally disputed without any problems related to the wind. Entering the season, Ryoyu Kobayashi was expected to grow in condition. If in Nizhny Tagil he had expressed his best only in the first series, but then collapsed in the standings, today he closed the circle, winning the first seasonal victory, the 14th in his career. In Klingenthal the duel between the holder of the crystal ball and one of his most accredited suitors, Stefan Kraft, was renewed. The Salzburger, who won in Russia, this time had to surrender to his rival for 3 points. The challenge between the two is open and both seem to be able to still climb a gear of their engine. For the moment the general classification speaks in favor of the Japanese, leading with 290 points, 14 more than Kraft. But everything could change next weekend in the two races in Engelberg, where Kobayashi will most likely be missing. In recent days Japanese technicians have announced that they will not line up the front lines in Switzerland. The third place of the day went to the Norwegian Marius Lindvik, at the first podium in his career at the World Cup, which boosted morale within the team, lacking Daniel Andre Tande and the young Markeng, who fell in the first series and was taken to hospital for tests. Lindvik beat the Austrian Aschenwald by just 3 tenths, confirmed in the top positions for the third consecutive stage and now fifth in the overall standings. Behind the Austrian were Geiger 5th, Sato 6th, Forfang 7th and Peter Prevc 8th. Piotr Zyla 9th and Kamil Stoch 10th also made it to the top 10. Instead, he finished 12th behind Johansson, Gregor Schlierenzauer, 4th in mid-race but unable to confirm himself at the decisive moment. Here the complete result. Here the World Cup ranking.
