Leap: Ryoyu Kobayashi returns to win in Willingen and approaches the crystal ball

The Japanese has conquered the 11th success and the 16th podium of the season and now in the general classification has a margin of 475 points on Kamil Stoch.

After the Finnish trip to Lahti, this weekend the Ski Jumping World Cup stopped in Willingen (Ger), where a Team Event and two individual races took place, the last ones before the World Championships in Seefeld. The team test, played on Friday, was won by Poland, which obtained the second seasonal success in the format. Piotr Zyla, Jakub Wolny, Dawid Kubacki and Kamil Stoch have already taken advantage of the first series, winning all four rotations. In the second act they then repeated on excellent levels, trimming back 80 points to Germany. The Germans, quarter-finals, preceded Slovenia by 26 points, while Norway had to settle for fourth place, ahead of Japan 5th and Austria 6th. The complete result. The home fans were able to celebrate Saturday for the victory in Race 1 by Karl Geiger, who won the second success of the season and his career. The twenty-six of Oberstdorf, after closing the first part of the race in third place, made a perfect jump in the second series. In fact, thanks to favorable wind conditions it landed at 150.5 m, a good 5.5 m above the HS point. This measure allowed him to bypass Kamil Stoch and Ryoyu Kobayashi, who preceded him at the end of the first series. The Polish had to settle for the place of honor four points behind the winner, while the Japanese climbed the lowest step of the podium. In the fourth and fifth places, two other Poles finished, Piotr Zyla and Dawid Kubacki, who preceded Richard Freitag 6th and the Russian Evgeniy Klimov 7th. A difficult day for Stefan Kraft, 11th at the end of the race. The complete result. Race 2, which was staged on Sunday, was dominated by Ryoyu Kobayashi. The Japanese has accumulated a good 17 points in the margin already in the first series thanks to a jump of 146 m. In the second act he then scored again the best score, trimming a gap of 22 points to the first of the pursuers. Behind him was Markus Eisenbichler, who reassembled from 8th place, ahead of 2.8 Piotr Zyla lengths. They finished at the foot of the podium Richard Freitag 4th and Dawid Kubacki 5th, while they closed respectively in 6th and 7th place Karl Geiger and Kamil Stoch. Also in the top 10 were the Slovenian Timi Zajc 8th, the Norwegian Johann Andre Forfang 9th and Stefan Kraft 10th. The complete result. Friday 22 February the qualification for the Men's Large Hill competition will start the program of the jump at the World Championships in Seefeld.
