Salto: Stefan Kraft makes a double on the Sapporo Okurayama

After the Zakopane races, this weekend the World Cup moved to Asia, in Sapporo (Jpn), where two individual races were played.

The first competition, held on Saturday night, was characterized by the front wind, which allowed jumpers to reach sensational measures. As expected, however, some athletes have stumbled into the "wind holes", which have always made the Okurayama insidious. In the first series the best score was that of Robert Johansson, who thanks to a front wind blast has gone up to 141 m, four meters beyond the HS. The Norwegian mid-race preceded Ryoyu Kobayashi (131 m) of 7.3 lengths. In third place was instead an excellent Timi Zajc, arrived at 140 m. In the second and decisive act, all these athletes were bypassed by Stefan Kraft, landed at 137 m with windy conditions in the normal. The Austrian, who returned to victory last week in Zakopane, trimmed a good 10 points to Kamil Stoch, who instead reached 148.5 m with over two meters of front wind. The Polish with this monstrous measure has crumbled the record of the trampoline, but has had to settle for the place of honor. Johansson instead was not up to the first two and with a jump of 127 m has slipped into third place, just ahead of Czech Roman Koudelka 4th and Ryoyu Kobayashi 5th. The latter was very unlucky with the weather, in the first series has indeed had to deal with the cross gusts, while in the second he ran into a hole of wind that made him fall. Timi Zajc confirmed on good levels also in the second part of the race, closing 6th. Also in the top 10 were Norway's Halvor Egner Granerud 7th, Austrian Daniel Huber 8th and Germans Stephan Leyhe and Markus Eisenbichler, 9th and 10th respectively. Dawid Kubacki, 15th and Japanese Yukiya Sato 20 Â°, are back. The complete result. On the Japanese morning on Sunday the second race was staged. Also in this case the athletes found favorable wind and the show was not missed. To prevail was Stefan Kraft, who thus obtained the third consecutive victory. The Austrian, arrived at 135 m, closed the first series in command, with a length advantage over the Slovenian Timi Zajc (138.5 m). Paid 7.3 points Piotr Zyla 3rd (139.5 m), while Stephan Leyhe and Halvor Egner Granerud finished more than 10 points. In the second act Kraft did not go beyond 128.5 m, but this measure allowed him to win with about ten points. Behind him Timi Zajc landed at 125 m, defending for 1.8 points the place of honor, thus conquering the first podium in the World Cup. Ryoyu Kobayashi, once again unlucky with the weather, has reassembled from the 8th to the 3rd position thanks to a jump of 129.5 m, climbing over 5 tenths of Zyla and Granerud, quarters tied. Instead he closed 6th Kamil Stoch, who preceded Noriaki Kasai 7th (best result of the season), Stephan Leyhe 8th, Robert Johansson 9th and Johann Andre Forfang 10th. The complete result. Ryoyu Kobayashi remains firmly in command of the overall World Cup standings with 1233 points. With the 200 points obtained in Sapporo, Kraft (781) bypasses Kamil Stoch and leads to the pursuit of the Japanese. The Polish is third at 744.
