The first series gave a great show, with five athletes who went to the 140 m area. But only one passed the HS point: Dawid Kubacki, landed at 143 m. The Pole thus mortgaged the stage victory and above all the Tour of the four trampolines, further detaching the direct opponents. Karl Geiger closed 2nd at 3.9 points, Marius Lindvik 3rd at 5.1. Instead he abandoned all dreams of glory Ryoyu Kobayashi, only 11th. At the foot of the provisional podium was Stefan Kraft, who preceded Domen Prevc, Yukiya Sato and Daniel Andre Tande.
In the decisive series nothing could Lindvik and Geiger against the Polish state of grace, able with another jump over 140 m to get the best partial score again and win the race and Tour. An unpredictable result on the eve of Oberstdorf.
