Markus Eisenbichler is undoubtedly the man of the moment when it comes to the Men's Jumping World Cup. Halvor Egner Granerud, who had already finished at the foot of the podium in the opening in Wisla, finished in 4th place.
However, the Norwegian raised the bar in race 2. After finishing in 4th place in the first series, he made an excellent second jump, pushing himself to 142 m making the most of the right balance between wind conditions and compensation. This performance allowed him to recover and take his first career success in the World Cup, preceding Eisenbichler and Kubacki, with Sato at the foot of the podium.
Definitely positive weekend for the Italian national team, present in Ruka with Alex Insam and Giovanni Bresadola. The 2001 class shone in race 2, finishing 23rd after being 11th in the middle of the race. Giovanni had passed the qualification cut even in the first competition, as well as Insam, in slow recovery after two years of darkness.
After three races already gone to the archives Eisenbichler is firmly in command of the World Cup standings with 280 points, with 80 points of margin over Granerud, 136 over Dawid Kubacki and 139 over Karl Geiger. A ranking that does not see the Austrians in the top positions, forced to remain in quarantine in Austria and also to skip next week's stage in Nizhny Tagil (Rus).
In fact, in the last few days the positivities of Kraft and Hayboeck have also emerged after those of Schlierenzauer and Aschenwald. In Ruka, Covid-19 instead hit the Czech Republic team that did not take part in game 2 after the positivity of Filip Sakala, as well as the Bulgarian Vladimir Zografski.
