Granerud puts the fifth in Engelberg: he is the favorite for the Tour

Over the weekend in Engelberg (Sui) the classic pre-Christmas appointment of ski jumping took place, during which all the big names of the circuit do the dress rehearsal in view of the Tour of the four trampolines.

Halvor Egner Granerud proved to be unbeatable again and struck in succession the fourth and fifth consecutive victory in the World Cup, applying for the conquest of the crystal ball and as the main favorite for the Tour of the four trampolines, which opens on Monday 28 December in Oberstdorf . In race 1, the Norwegian was the best in both series, but with a small advantage over his rivals, especially Kamil Stoch, who was second at 2.2 points. The Slovenian Anze Lanisek, on the other hand, finished third, conquering the first podium of the season for his nation: a real success after the recent controversies that led to the change of technical staff. In the second series Lanisek managed to contain the comeback of Markus Eisenbichler, at the end 4th, one point from the podium. The victory of race 2 came instead in comeback. After the third place in the first series, Granerud in the second jump went to 135.5 m with acceptable wind conditions. After him, however, the wind got worse: Yukiya Sato thus slipped from 2nd to 9th place, while Piotr Zyla (who was in the lead halfway through the race) defended the podium, finishing 3rd. Markus Eisenbichler instead took the place of honor. Anze Lanisek 4th, Pius Paschke 5th and Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes 6th finished at the foot of the podium, with their best career result. With 7 races now gone to the archives Granerud boasts a loot of 600 points, the result of five victories and two fourth places. The World Cup is still long and the hierarchies could change very quickly, however at the moment the Norwegian is the real master of the general classification, where he boasts a lead of 137 points over Eisenbichler.
