Room for outsiders in the fifth stage of the Tour de Ski woman. Stina Nilsson, Heidi Weng and ingvild flugstad østberg, the three main contenders for the ultimate success, has in fact remained off the podium in the 5 km skating Dobbiaco. Victory went to Jessica Diggins, who won the last edition of the similar test.

The US, the third statement in career individual World Cup races, in the same technique and the same distance, has emerged thanks to a stunning crescendo: seventh to first intermediate, after 1,600 meters, it has risen in fourth place with 2.1 km, and then presented already firmly in the lead the survey of 3.4 km, with more than 5/2 of competition, and to expand the advantage in the final stretch.

Behind the Swede placed Weng, whose fifth place, 17 '' and a half behind the winner, is sufficient to bring it for the first time at the top of the Tour de Ski. Østberg, who already made it to 5/2 countryman after four stages, has closed the eighth, separated by 23.5 seconds, while Nilsson, leading to the departure with 6 '' and 7 tenths of a margin, was only 20th, in 40.5 seconds and Diggins 23 Weng.
Behind it was placed at the finish line, Kerttu Niskanen, which recorded one of the three best times in all intermediate surveys, before dropping in the closing bars. Seventh Nathalie von Siebenthal, once again adjust at high levels. In even ten Kathrine Rolsted Harsem and Yulia Tchekaleva.
Home Italy, three of the five athletes in the race have marked points. The best was Elisa Brocard, 22nd, that until the last intermediate remained in contention for a minimum input among the top fifteen. Also in thirty Ilaria Debertolis, 25th, and Julia Stuerz, 30th. Virginia De Martin and Lucia Topranin Scardoni have instead concluded respectively in 33th and 39th position.
The new ranking of the Tour de Ski Weng sees the lead with 11.1 seconds on Østberg, although not yet managed to win a stage win. Nilsson slipped to third place, separated by 16.3 seconds. Yet fully in the running for the podium, and maybe not even cut off from the fight for the final victory, even Pärmäkoski, which reduces the gap from the top to 36 '' and 8/10. Much farther Diggins, which makes Weng over one minute and 23 seconds. The US can now handle a very wide margin on the pursuers, led by von Siebenthal, that is 2 'and 51' 'from the leader. In seventh place Tchekaleva salt, which benefits not exciting performance of Nicole Fessel (21st), now eighth. Bjornsen enters the top ten, in ninth place, ahead of Harsem.
In the overall standings of the World Cup, Weng still slightly lengthens against Østberg (869 points against 796). Gnawing at some length, however, Pärmäkoski, however distant 229 lengths (640). Nilsson is always fourth in 542m, while Diggins dates back two positions and moved into fifth with 460.
