Since the opening beats the absolute protagonist was Jessica Diggins, who with a remarkable rhythm skimmed the group. Several athletes, even top, have remained lingering, including the first two in the general classification, Heidi Weng and Ingvild Flugstad Østberg and the Austrian Teresa Stadlober.
Halfway through the race the American went through the head with Kalla and Haga, with about half a minute ahead of Jacobsen, Andersson, Pärmäkoski and Bjørgen, also delayed for making the change of ski, all the others have instead paid almost a minute.
The leading trio remained united until the final stretch of the race, but had to guard against the comeback of the pair Jacobsen-Bjørgen that in the 5 km lap have halved the gap and, after a stalemate, have completed reunification when at the finish line it was 1.5 km away.
Once reached the opponents, Bjørgen did not linger and on the last climb went to the attack, taking a few tens of meters of lead. The Olympic champion in the format then presented alone on the finishing straight, winning a victory that will remain in the history of cross-country skiing.
The sprint for the remaining podium positions was won by Diggins who preceded the Norwegian Haga, Charlotte Kalla had to settle for the fourth place. Fifth Jacobsen, never really fighting for the first three positions. He finished 6th at 1'39 "Østberg, coming back in the second part of the race. Pärmäkoski 7a, Boehler 8a, Stadlober 9a and Andersson 10a finished behind him.
Only 18a on the finish line the leader of the World Cup general classification Heidi Weng who has 153 points ahead of the first chaser, the compatriot Østberg.
Fair proof for the 'only blue engaged, Elisa Brocard who closed 20th to three minutes and 22 "from the winner.Now the athletes will move to Sweden, in Falun, where next week will be held in the last three races of the World Cup 2017-18.
