Kles said law in the pursuit of closure of the Ruka Triple, nothing to do for Iversen and Niskanen

The 15 km in free technique of Ruka-Kuusamo has closed the program of the opening of the 2019/20 World Cup of cross-country skiing. After the hat-trick in the women's race of the morning, Norway scored twice with Klæbo and Iversen, who preceded Iivo Niskanen at the finish line.

In the first part the champion of Trondheim, who started with about twenty seconds of margin, kept at a distance the chasing pair formed by Niskanen and Iversen, with the norge that left the Finnish with the onerous task of conducting the pursuit. After a balanced central phase, at the 10th km the reunion of the head trio took place. However, the competition script has not changed, with Niskanen always keeping the pace high, without taking the two Scandinavians out of tails. The fate of the Ruka Triple was therefore decided in the final stages. On the last climb Klæbo entered the high gears and, as happened in the Sprint on Friday, broke his opponents by force, flying solo towards the finish line. The Norwegian thus won the opening of the World Cup and the second victory over three days. Therefore, an excellent Iversen had to be satisfied with the place of honor, which in this seasonal opening proved to be a fearsome competitor for the crystal ball. Third position instead for the landlord Iivo Niskanen, who missed in the final the explosiveness to keep up with the two norge. Team's exceptional team trial arose that in addition to the first two, he placed four other top 10 athletes. Golberg, much improved in the distance tests, finished 4th, Holund, unleashed for two thirds of the race, finished 6th, preceding the countrymen Toenseth and Roethe. Alexander Bolshunov entered fifth place among them, not yet 100% of his enormous potential. The 10th position of Sergey Ustiugov, passed in the final by the Swedish Halfvarsson, also came to Russia. Day with more shadows than lights for the Italian team, which brought only one man to the points: Federico Pellegrino, brave in the first part of keeping Ustiugov's pace and 19th at the finish line. Outside the thirty instead De Fabiani 32nd, Salvadori and Zelger, respectively 55th and 56th.
