The men's 4x7.5 km relay ended the program of the second stage of the 2019/20 World Cup. As is often the case in the male sector, the test was balanced and experienced flare-ups. In the first fraction it was the Russian Andrey Larkov, who tried to go on the run, with Paal Golberg and the Swedish Sandstroem, but at the change the leading group regrouped.
At this point Iivo Niskanen for Finland, Holund for Norway I and Belov for Russia II came into action. In the second part of the fraction the three tried to detach the opponents, but without great luck. The track, already demanding in itself, but made even heavier by a heavy snowfall, has made difficult escape attempts from afar.
After a third interim meeting and a very tactical first part of the fourth, eight teams arrived in the final still fighting for victory. The Russians Melnicheko and Ustiugov unleashed the final round, and on the most challenging climb they did not give the Norwegian Krogh and Turtveit and the German Dobler a chance. In the last few hundred meters Ustiugov put forward his sprinter skills, thus ahead of his compatriot at the finish line. And so a Russian double arrived at the Norwegian side, relegated to 3rd and 4th place, in front of an excellent Germany, who dreamed of the podium until the end.
Sixth place for Sweden at 26 "from the winners. The Scandinavian quartet preceded Finland 7a, France 8a, the United States, Kazakhstan and China.
