The first medals with regard to the women's cross-country skiing World Championships in Lahti will be allocated in the Sprint Free Technique.

HISTORY OF THE WORLD CUP SPRINT
Sprint gives the world title starting from the edition of 2001. That Lahti Lahti will be the ninth gold medal in the history of this format, the sixth in free technique.
Marit Bjørgen is the only woman capable of winning more than one world title in the Sprint. They are even 4 golds that the greatest distance runner of all time has been able to win in this format, 2 freestyle and second in classical technique. No other was also able to take home at least 3 overall medals at 2 we find Pirjo Manninen-Muranen (gold in 2001 and bronze in 2009), Arianna Follis (gold in 2009 and silver in 2011), Petra Majdic (silver in 2007 and bronze in 2011) and Maiken Caspersen Falla (bronze in 2013 and 2015).
2 medals Follis also represent the only two won by Italy in Sprint Female. The Ivrea won gold in Liberec in 2009 and silver in Oslo in 2011; either way you competed in skating.
At the level of nations, the medals of Sprint for women saw the lead Norway with five Gold and three bronzes, followed by Sweden with 1 Gold and 3 Silvers and Finland with 1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronzes. A medal also Italy (1 Gold and 1 Silver), Slovenia (1 Silver and 1 Bronze), United States (1 Silver), Germany (1 silver), Russia (1 bronze) and Canada (1 Bronze).

SPRINT THE FIRST LEVEL OF THE SEASON IN PROGRESS
During this season you were played 8 Sprint first level, 5 freestyle and third in the classic technique. Stina Nilsson has won 4 (3 to skating), Maiken Caspersen Falla, Heidi Weng, Natalia Matveeva and Annamarija Lampic 1. They are able to climb at least once on the podium ingvild flugstad østberg, Hanna Falk, Silje Slind and Ida Sargent.
Despite the good tradition in this format, Italy has not hit even a final in the current season. The best result is the tenth-place finish by Ilaria Debertolis in Davos, also a semi-final for Gaia Vuerich in Val Monastery; if only these two results have been obtained in Sprint free technique,
SPRINT THE FIRST LEVEL IN LAHTI
In its history, Lahti has hosted 13 Sprint female first level, 10 freestyle and 3 classic technique, 12 of the World Cup and one which has awarded the world title in 2001. The most successful woman in the Sprint Lahti is Marit Bjørgen which has 4 wins and 1 second place, followed by Kikkan Randall, with 2 wins and 1 third. No other girl was able to win more than once or to win more than two podiums.
Sprint last Lahti, the premondiale held February 20, 2016 just freestyle, successful Maiken Caspersen Falla in front of Jessica Diggins and Heidi Weng.
PROGRAM LAHTI 2017
The Sprint Free Technique that will award the world title in 2017 will be held Thursday, February 23. The qualifiers happening at 14.00 Italian, local 15:00, batteries, semi-finals and final starting from 16.30 Italian, Local 17:30.
