The first medals with regard to the men's cross-country skiing World Championships in Lahti will be allocated in the Sprint Free Technique.

HISTORY OF THE WORLD CUP SPRINT
Sprint gives the world title starting from the edition of Lahti in 2001. This year will be the ninth gold medal in the history of this format, the sixth in free technique.
No cross-country skier was able to repeat a world title in this format. The most decorated is Petter Northug, who won 1 Gold and 2 Silvers among other things in the last three editions; 3 Total medals for Tor Arne Hetland, which boasts 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze while Thobias Fredriksson (1 Gold and 1 Bronze), Ola Vigen Hattestad (1 Gold and 1 Bronze) and Alex Harvey (1 Silver and 1 bronze) complete the batch of cross-country skiers able to win more than one medal in the Sprint.
Italy boasts a medal, silver Cristian Zorzi got in Lahti in 2001, when the Sprint made its debut in the World Championship event.
At the level of nations, the medals of Male Sprint sees the command Norway with 4 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronzes, followed by Sweden with 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronzes and Russia with 2 Gold and 1 Bronze. A medal also Canada (1 Silver and 1 Bronze) and Italy (1 silver).
This is the 'roll of' full gold Male Sprint World Championships in Cross Country Skiing.
SPRINT THE FIRST LEVEL OF THE SEASON IN PROGRESS
During this season you were played 8 Sprint first level, 5 freestyle and third in the classic technique. Only Sergey Ustiugov was capable of repeating itself, having triumphed in Davos and in Val Monastero in the first stage of the Tour de Ski, both times just skating. They boast a win instead Pål Golberg (Kuusamo, classic technique), Calle Halfvarsson (Lillehammer, classic technique), Bjørnestad Sindre Skar (Dobbiaco, technical free), Gleb Retivykh (Pyeongchang, classic technique), Federico Pellegrino (Gong, free technique) and Johannes Høsflot Klæbo (Otepää, freestyle).
They got even podiums Emil Iversen (two second places), Teodor Peterson (third), Finn Haagen Krogh (two seconds and a third), Simeon Hamilton (one second), Sondre Fossli Turvoll (one second) and Andrey Parfenov (third ).
Italy has big ambitions: Federico Pellegrino as mentioned season won in Falun own free technique, it is the holder of the cup specialty and introduces himself again champion with the red bib. This does not mean that the medal is automatic, the Norwegians of all in the main event will feature in top form, but if there is a race in which Italy can point it is the Sprint free-male technique.
SPRINT THE FIRST LEVEL IN LAHTI
In its history, Lahti has hosted 13 Sprint female first level, 10 freestyle and 3 classic technique, 12 of the World Cup and one which has awarded the world title in 2001. The most successful man in Lahti Sprint Emil Jönsson boasting three wins, followed by Petter Northug, with two wins and one third place. No other guy has been able to win more than once, but Eirik Brandsdal (1 win, 1 second and 1 third place) and Ola Vigen Hattestad (2/2 and 1 third place) equals Jönsson and Northug at an altitude of 3 podiums.
For Italy 3 podiums in total Sprint male Lahti: Cristian Zorzi won 3 March 2000 in a race in which Silvio Fauner was third, and finished second 21 February 2001 at the World Championships test. Federico Pellegrino came fourth in premondiale instead of February 20, 2016 won by Emil Iversen ahead of Finn Haagen Krogh and Petter Northug.
PROGRAM LAHTI 2017
The Sprint Free Technique that will award the world title in 2017 will be held Thursday, February 23. The qualifiers happening at 14.00 Italian, local 15:00, batteries, semi-finals and final starting from 16.30 Italian, Local 17:30.
