The second day of the World Championships in Seefeld opens with sprint qualifiers with about 260 athletes for 60 places for the finals between the two categories.

The flurry of qualifying times gave responses without too many surprises with all the big ones at the final stages. Excellent evidence of the Italians who manage to pass the cut in 3 out of the 4 who were at the start with: Greta Laurent in tenth position, Elisa Brocard 24th and Lucia Scardoni 29th. Out of thirty Ilaria Debertolis 58th.
In the women's sprint skating qualifications, the first 10 were:

No surprise even in the men's field, with the start at 2.30 pm of the finals and the awarding of the medals. Ustiugov scored the second half by throwing the first signal to the other contenders. Three Italians qualified for the finals with Federico Pellegrino in sixth place and Francesco De Fabiani ninth, Stefan Zelger 27th. The first blue excluded is Davide Graz who comes close to qualifying in 32nd place, after him Claudio Muller 40th.
