On paper it had to be a head to head between Norway and Finland, in reality the pattern of race saw Marit Bjoergen take and unplug all since its first possession. Ostberg is perfect in keeping the advantage over rivals, giving the more experienced teammate a final round showing extremely peaceful Norway on the roof of skiing after the disappointments suffered recently. For Ostberg is the first gold medal in the Olympics and world of his career, for this is the umpteenth Bjoergen instead result from the legend as it becomes the first woman in history to win the Olympic title and world title in both sprint in the individual sprint in pairs.
Unfortunately for Aino Kaisa Saarinen and Kerttu Niskanen, however well-versed in winning the second silver after that of the traditional relay. Maybe reversing the two girls and matching Saarinen Bjoergen the tactic would have been different, but it would hardly be able to grab the top spot.
The podium is completed by Ida Ingemarsdotter and Stina Nilsson, who give Sweden the tenth medal in cross country skiing in Sochi, 2014, on the eve completely unexpected result. This bronze is mainly about Nilsson, able to sew up the four seconds ahead of Germany with which the last part of the village and burn in a sprint Denise Herrmann today a distant relative of the leader of the specialty of the sprint. At the end for Germany therefore an unexpected fourth place, however, after the difficulties encountered in the morning by Herrmann who had even feared for a sensational elimination. Instead the company is unable to Justyna Kowalczyk, who was unable to put Poland on the podium by only considering the level shown by his teammate Sylwia Jaskowiec; them anyway for fifth place on the eve probably unexpected.
Unfortunately for Italy, already eliminated in the semifinals. The couple made Ilaria Debertolis and Gaia Vuerich is still proving far from most competitive nations, finishing seventh and not recording a time sufficient to repechage.
