The alternative mobility project called by engineer Ezio Facchin and presented to the mayors of the Val di Fiemme in Cavalese in view of the 2026 Winter Olympics to reduce traffic intensity is called "Fiemme 26".
The project provides for the connection between the Val di Fiemme and the Val di Fassa with a cableway that alternates between rope and rubber during the journey thanks to a system based on renewable energy.
"Fiemme'26 requires that the cabin, upon arrival in the valley or mountain station, after having carried out the passenger service, couple with an electrically powered self-propelled trolley and continue its run on a reserved seat at a speed of 50 km / h, until the next stop, in a built-up area or at the height of an important ski lift. As long as the orographic conditions permit, the trolley-cabin will continue its service with the stops scheduled, while in the presence of significant differences in height or narrowing of the valley floor the cabin will return to the aerial system "explained Ezio Facchin to the online newspaper" Trentino " .
In addition, the engineer says that the journey times should be around 43 minutes on the 23 km route and 14 stops in case, hypothetically, the gondola lift should start from Cavalese and arrive in Soraga.
The construction of the plant would take about three years and a cost that should vary between 160 and 200 million euros.
