In the women's race the success, the second of her career in the Cup in the specialty, went to the Swiss Mathilde Gremaud, second two years ago in Milan, author of the best jump of the final stages, a first run that yielded 89.25 points i which, added to the 83.25 of the third run, gave her the victory with 172.50 points. The 18-year-old from the Canton of Friborg preceded her compatriot Sarah Höfflin (160.25), the one who had beaten her in the Olympic slopestyle of PyeongChang 2018 and on which today she took a little revenge thanks to her last jump that earned her the winning overtaking. Third place for the German Kea Kühnel (159.00), fourth the Canadian Elena Gaskell (146.00), fifth the Austrian Lara Wolf (124.00) and sixth the Norwegian Johanne Killi (102.50).
Another athlete of the 2000 class and also winner of his second race in the Cup in the specialty, the Norwegian Birk Ruud, won the men's race taking the lead after the second run and keeping it until the end, his two jumps from 90, 75 and 87.50 earned him the best total score, 178.25. According to only 75 hundredths of a point the US Alexander Hall (177.50), in the lead after the first run but then overtaken by the Norwegian. Third and fourth the two Swiss Andri Ragettli (173.75) and Fabian Bösch (172.75), fifth the Swedish Henrik Harlaut (171.75), sixth the Swiss third, Kai Mahler (171.00), who consoles with best score in a single jump, 92.75 in the second run, seventh Swedish Jesper Tjäder (141.50), eighth New Zealand Finn Bilous (108.25), ninth the US Colby Stevenson (100.00) and tenth the Canadian Alex Beaulieu-Marchand (85.25).
It will take more than four months to wait for the next stage of the big air freestyle World Cup, the third season, scheduled in Québec City on March 16th. They will come from leading Ragettili, who has 10 points ahead of Ruud thanks to the victory of Cardrona last September 7, and Gaskell, also thanks to success in New Zealand.
