Between the mountains of Carnia, nestled on a splendid sunny plateau overlooking the Tagliamento Valley, stands the village of Lauco. At about 900 meters above sea level in Porteal there are two cross-country trails exposed entirely to the sun to be discovered, do it with us enjoying this video made by Roberto and Mike Tessari!

In particularly snowy winters, Lauco which is located about sixty kilometers from Udine, offers two splendid alternatives for cross-country skiing enthusiasts. A ring reserved for beginners, totally flat and beautiful wide that has a length of about 2.5 km and a track dedicated to the more experienced that has suggestive panoramic stretches over the two adjacent valleys: Val Tagliamento and Val Degano.
The more technical itinerary winds along the meadows of the Porteal clearing at the gates of the Val di Lauco, and is characterized by a 5 km loop consisting of a continuous series of short but rather challenging climbs and climbs, followed by short descents and pendants often in counter-slope definitely suitable for those who want to train and struggle.
The plant managed by the local Monte Arvenis Skiers Group in collaboration with the Municipality of Lauco, in the past has hosted national cross-country skiing events that have also seen the participation of champions of the caliber of Maurilio De Zolt and Gabriella Paruzzi, two who know about Olympic titles ...
Alongside the cross-country trails, the Porteal plain offers numerous itineraries for lovers of snowshoes and excursions on the snow. Furthermore, from Porteal, it is possible to go inside the enchanting Val di Lauco which leads towards the Zoncolan, along a path that in summer can be traveled on a racing bike or a mountain bike.
