The prize, for which four champions of the outdoor world and adventure have been nominated, will be presented for the first time this year and will award the winner € 10,000.
Lothse
Hilaree Nelson and Jim Morrison are tied together in the mountains and in life. The pair of ski mountaineers has a dream of 8,000 meters high: to attempt an enterprise never realized, a desire that leads them to turn their minds towards the fourth highest peak on the planet. With its 8,516 meters, the Lhotse is a direct neighbor of Everest. Nelson and Morrison want to become the first to ski on his wall: a thrilling line of 2,100 meters. For long periods of the year, due to the strong winds, large stretches of the descent are free from ice and snow and therefore it is impossible to ski. The preparations for this incredible expedition lasted three years, but we know that a trip to the hardest area of the Himalayas succeeds also thanks to luck and circumstances: the meteorological conditions, the mental and physical state of the athletes. With minimal equipment and maximum effort, Nelson and Morrison try to make their ancient dream come true.
FREEDOM TO ROAM
Sarah McNair-Landry is a modern nomad. The daughter of two GuidePolari, she grew up on the island of Baffin, in northern Canada, surrounded by the Inuit culture and endless winters: the perfect terrain to train a team of sled dogs and feel at ease at minus 40 degrees. Freedom To Roam is the portrait of a 21st century adventurer - a woman who learns from nature and has an insatiable hunger for adventure. Sarah McNair-Landry is the youngest person to have reached the North and South Pole: humble and tenacious, during her many expeditions she sharpened her leadership skills and her determination, becoming the first female Master Polar Guide in the world. As a Guide he is kind and has a great experience, as an adventurer he challenges himself to develop new skills and abilities every day, in order to discover unexplored routes and live a life immersed in nature.
