The remarkable chain of sporting goods Decathlon is expanding considerably in Germany: in addition to being opened this year in Karlsruhe, Ingolstadt and Cologne, there will be open seven more by the end of 2017.

In Passau, the store will be opened on October 12 and another will open in Dresden a little later during the fall. It aims to open other retail outlets in Düsseldorf, Wuppertal, Regensburg, Rheine and Ahrensfelde-Eiche by the end of this year. This will increase the number of Decathlon centers in Germany from 38 to 45 by the end of 2017.
The company, founded in 1976 in France, is also expanding beyond Europe: the beginning of August saw the first store opened in Hong Kong with more than 10,000 products for the most varied disciplines; Sports climbing, fitness, running, golf, diving and winter sports. In October, the first Australian store will be opened. The first store outside France was opened in 1986 in Germany, in Dortmund, now the company has stores in over 40 countries.
