The factory was built in the 1940s and I began producing Fischer skis in 1988. Today the Austrian brand produced about 70% of its skis in Mukačevo, while the rest in Ried, Austria. The industry produces about 180 models of cross-country skis and 130 models of mountain skis. 70% of the manufactured products go to the logistics center in Austria, from where they are then sent to 43 countries including Japan, Canada and the United States.
In 2016, the factory also announced that it had begun manufacturing carbon parts for automotive brands, including BMW, Audi, Porsche and Mercedes.
The Mukačevo plant also produces ice hockey sticks and had nearly 1500 employees.
The causes of the fire are still unknown. Firefighters arrived quickly, but already more than half of the factory would be unusable.
In these days, experts are studying the consequences of the fire and a check is underway on all installations that can still be used.
