Bormio approaches the 2026 Olympic Games. Antonio Rossi: "State-of-the-art facilities for future international competitions"

The sports undersecretary of the Lombardy Region spoke at the meeting staged at the foot of the "Stelvio" which will host the men's competitions in Milan-Cortina 2026.

After yesterday's stage in Sondrio, the second day, organized in Valtellina by the Cortina 2026 Foundation and the Lombardy Region, for a discussion with local institutions and stakeholders, took place in Bormio where the legendary "Stelvio" track will host the Olympic Games of 2026. The meeting was attended, among others, by the Undersecretary with responsibility for Sport, Olympics and Major Events of the Lombardy Region, Antonio Rossi, the president of the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation, Giovanni Malagò, the president of Coni Lombardia Marco Riva and the mayor of Bormio, Silvia Cavazzi. In particular, we discussed the relaunching and strengthening of the geographical areas affected by the Olympics as tourist destinations, the enhancement of cultural and food and wine peculiarities and that of Lombardy as a land of sport. But also of the realization of works and investments with relative induced in terms of employment. “The legacy of the Winter Olympics for Lombardy - said the regional undersecretary for sport - was the other theme at the center of today's debate. The state-of-the-art sports facilities could be the venue for future international competitions. Thanks to the resources invested by the Lombardy Region, over 575 million euros, road connections with mountain resorts will improve and the area will also benefit, which will be more attractive as a reference for the opening of new businesses. As well as exports and the consequent promotion of the beauties of our region ". Satisfaction with the appointment at the Terme headquarters was expressed by the mayor of Bormio, Silvia Cavazzi who, recalling her sporting past in Nordic skiing, highlighted how "concentration on the goal is the fundamental element to achieve the final goal "and at the same time" it is strategic to be ready for a long sprint that will lead us to a truly unique and exceptional event ". "Creating a network, creating a system - underlined the president of Coni Lombardia, Marco Riva - to honor the Olympic motto" faster, higher, stronger together ", this is the key to building our Olympic Games by enhancing the excellence that there are on the territory of our region. Punterà soprattutto ai campionati del mondo di Montafon che a marzo chiuderanno la stagione.
