It starts at 09:30 Italian time, with the oldest biathlon competition in the history of the Olympic Games. The Norwegian is hunting for a legendary back to back, the Italians will try to have their say in a format that in the past has given away medals, but which has been the team's Achilles heel for years.

In the decade 1988 - 1998, the men's 20 km made Italy dream of biathlon. In fact, two medals arrived between Calgary and Nagano: the bronze of Passler in Canada and the silver of Carrara in Japan, so far the highest point of Italy at the Olympic Games. Hofer, Windisch, Bormolini and Bionaz start as outsiders but if a "zero" were to arrive at the shooting range, it would be legitimate to dream.

After the gold in Pyeongchang 2018 obtained in front of Fak and Landertinger, Johannes Boe is on the hunt for a legendary back to back. In fact, in Olympic history only the Norwegian Solberg was able, between Grenoble 1968 and Sapporo 1972, to carry out the back to back in the mother specialty of biathlon.
“Giovannino” is among the favorites but not the absolute favorite, in the format in which he has not won for over two years. Numbers in hand could also fight for a medal Sturla Holm Laegreid, winner of three of the last five races, Tarjei Boe, back from two consecutive second places and the French Fillon Maillet. At home Russia the best card seems to be Loginov, while the winner of Anterselva Babikov will not be there.
