A fire most likely of arson origin, destroyed the ticket office and the new control room of the chairlift that rises up to Pian Belfè in Ala di Stura Piedmontese ski area yesterday morning.

The mayor of Ala di Stura, Mauro Garbano looks at the disaster and shakes his head: "For us, if someone does not help us, it could be the end".
A fire that according to early reconstructions seems to have arson origin, since the building from which it all came out, for months it was not even endowed with electricity. At the moment, however, even the accidental hypothesis is not excluded, also because the Fire Brigade does not exclude the possibility that the fire could have originated from a lightning strike or from a spark started by some batteries deposited in the premises.
"And to think that, precisely on September 1, after forty years the technical life of the chairlift expired and we were in contact with the Region to obtain a loan that would guarantee us at least a year of activity - still tells the first citizen of Ala alla Stampa - We were working to carry out the revision, now we will see how it can be done but, of course, it is a blow that didn't really take ".
The plant had recently been equipped with a new control room that had been built with a loan of around 400 thousand euros. A major investment that literally went up in smoke with yesterday's fire.
Restoring the operation of the plant will be a real race against time. "For us it is vital that the ski lifts work, because our identity is Ala di Stura and we want to ski on our slopes - Castagneri is unleashed the director of a ski club where about seventy children are being trained by fifteen masters, - Ho already contacted all the preparers because we have to find a solution this fire has cut our legs and leaves me with only so much desolation after the enormous sacrifices we have made to relaunch the station ».
