Yes, the legendary Lauberhorn which for decades has been home to the legendary descent of the World Cup, with the 17-year-old ski bar run by Beni Scheiber who suffered enormous damage, for a wind that reached up to 140 km / h.
"70% of my cabin was destroyed - the owner's words - Now I can only cry, and think that in the past the structure had withstood even gusts of 269 km / h. The roof was sucked into the wind and blown away ".
After a fearful Saturday, November 23rd, now the situation has improved but the damage is important, even in the whole area around the ski bar, which Scheiber intends to rebuild very quickly: "I hope to reopen by Christmas, we are evaluating the possibility. It is not only material damage, but also a blow to the heart because souvenirs from the last 17 years of activity have been destroyed ".
Including many memories related to skiing champions; the weekend of races in Wengen, scheduled from 17 to 19 January 2020, could be a great opportunity to revive a magical place for the world of snow.
